Incident reports are processed for all Fire District responses. Copies are available to all parties involved for a fee of $25.00.

The timing and availability of reports can vary depending on the type of incident and any ongoing investigation.

I'm selling my home. How do I schedule a Fire Safety Inspection?

On or after July 1, 2021, a seller of real property in a Fire Hazard Severity Zone in the State Responsibility Area (SRA), which includes all of the Zayante Fire Protection District, shall provide documentation to the buyer that the property is compliant with Public Resource Code (PRC) section 4291 requirements for the creation and maintenance of defensible space. For real property located in the SRA, CAL FIRE is the agency responsible to conduct defensible space inspections and provide documentation of compliance to the property owner.

I would like to put a gate on my road. What are the requirements?

It’s a common question and the short answer “yes” but with some restrictions. Gates must not impede the ability of fire apparatus to quickly and safely access your residence or a community. Electric gates will require a manual override in the event of power failure. Manual gates and electric gates must utilize the “Knox” key system. The Knox key is a standard “Secured” key kept on fire apparatus and is only available thru your local fire agency. I would like to build a home on my parcel. What are the requirements?

Parcel development can come under many standards for construction. Some of the areas for consideration include access to the parcel, water system availability, new construction or remodel of an existing home. Its impossible to provide a simple answer because of so many variables. We’ve put together a checklist of things to consider when making the decision. You can review the document with your contractor who has a good understanding of what may or may not be required. We can not answer questions on the phone or tell you what requirements would apply ahead of your application submittal to the County. There are just too many variables which may apply.
