Zayante Fire Protection District Board of Directors has approved moving forward with an updated parcel tax.

If approved, the proposed tax will replace the current annual parcel tax of $75 approved in 2016.

The new rate of $290 would be an increase of $215 annually. It will sustain staffing and equipment of the local volunteer department, which covers the largest geographic area of all San Lorenzo Valley Fire Departments. The proposed measure will be on the November 5th ballot.

“This measure would be key to our future viability,” said Fire Chief Jeff Maxwell. “We are focusing on providing reliable daytime response and replacing aged fire engines to better serve our community.”
